Howardian Hills

Joint Excursion with Ryedale Branch CPRE to the Howardian Hills AONB, 23rd June
It was very unfortunate that only one member from each organisation turned up – especially since our guide had made a special trip from Northallerton. Those who didn't come missed a very interesting walk through the varied habitats in the Howardian Hills.

Species seen:
Birds: Blue Tit, Blackcap, Garden Warbler, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Jackdaw, Wood Pigeon, Swift, Swallow, Skylark, Yellowhammer, House Sparrow, Linnet and Starling.

Plants: Salad Burnet, Pignut, Clover, Buttercup, Eyebright, Yarrow, Field Thistle, Sorrel, Lady's Bedstraw, Speedwell, Silverweed, Daisy, Creeping Cinquefoil, White Campion, Pink Campion, Greater Burdock, Ragged Robin, Lesser Stitchwort, Bugle, Forget-me-not, Foxglove, Meadow Cranesbill, Herb Bennet, Wood Avens, Early Spotted Orchid: and the grasses Crested Dog Tail, Red Fescue, Cocksfoot and Yorkshire Fog.
